Description: More than 300 vehicles quietly await visitors under the impressive steel construction of the former "Palais Mondial", an edifice of the early 20th century designed by architect Gédéon Bordiau. The large sample of various models - animal-drawn, steam or electric traction, gas-powered automobiles - was given this gorgeous setting in 1984, perfectly suited to the glittering shine of all the bodywork. The remarkable personal collection of Ghislain Mahy provided most of the models displayed in the museum, the largest in Europe to be devoted to old cars. Practically all the Belgian names (Minerva, FN, Imperia etc.) sit alongside the European and US models. The small vehicle designed by pioneer Léon Bollée (1896), the mass-produced Ford Model T, the VW Beetle or the Citroen 2CV; virtually all of them are here, unpretentiously sitting next to vehicles and motorcycles that belonged to Belgian royals.
